‘Domino affect’ in action!!

(Re-upload)

Well today we finished up everything and wrapped up our video.  I truly enjoyed working on this project and researching the different ways that I could improve it. Over the span of this project along with things like tell designs in different ways to do films depending on it’s genre. My favorite part out of everything was definitely  producing and editing everything. Being able to have creative control over nearly half of it felt great. Editing was a breeze and filming was ‘OK’ despite the many setbacks they came upon us. Like the last one it was entirely new and different concept for me that I believe that I grasped pretty well. Broaden my view on the film industry and The various steps they take for similar bigger projects. With all of the issues that are rows around our time of filming I did get discouraged a it but once he got over it andWith all of the issues that are rows around our time of filming I did get discouraged a bit but once we got over it and found a better idea to substitute it with it became very fun. It felt nice thinking of an idea and finding ways to put it together in your own little mini movie intro!

Film review editing + wrap up

Hi blog today were wrapping up all  the filming and fixing our mistakes from the task review. Not sure if  I mentioned this earlier but we have look-alikes in our film. It would be like a stunt double but without the stunts. I did all the filming on my part so everything was left for Keanah to do.  I was sent every remaining video so I spent my time throughout the week editing .  Since  a lot of the things were recorded at different times and places,  making things flow was a big issue.  I also had a list of all the issues my brothers friend told me , so I had that on hand when finishing up my editing. Surprisingly the music kind of made editing easier for me. Transitioning on certain beats of the music actually made it look less choppy then before. also with including the sound from the robbery scenes along with the music made it feel more real. The background sound contained sounds of things ruffling over and things falling over. After moving on from the sounds I focused seeing what I could do to fix the lighting on my part. either to redo the specific part or just explore the editing software to see what I could do. I did end up keeping the video and just finding ways to improve it. the issue with that was that my brother recorded the scene for me on snapchat with a filter. so if I wanted to add a filter to update the lighting it would make it seem unnatural , which isn't the plan.

Film review!

Hi blog I got my brothers and his friend to watch and give their opinions on our nearly finished film. I chose theirs who since they’re really blunt and honest when it come to critiquing me and that would really be fit me in fixing it.  Starting off with the cons and things we needed to fix, they stated execution, lighting and acting.   They thought the transition of everything was really sloppy and acted as a spurt e of confusion.  Lighting was ‘SoSo’ there were certain times where it made sense for the dim lighting and other times where it didn’t. And as for acting, they’re not expecting  us to be good so that wasn’t really the issue, just that there were times where we were supposed uphold a role and we didn’t do it looked wrong. (Ei: smiling when we’re supposed to be scared or serious) When it came to Pros the idea was clear and there were many different angles that made sense. Our editing was said to be progressive  from when we first started to that’s a plus. Overall there’s a bit of things we still need to work on.

Editing on Free time!!! :)

Hey blog, I have a lot of free time today and thought to  start editing. I’m spending time at my brothers house and have access to sim of the footage we’ve gotten done. I’m using CapCut as a way to edit my work this time around again. Since I have experience using the app for previous projects I found the process much easier. My only issue was putting the cribs together since I didn’t have everything with chronological order. So far I’m still waiting for the two other people in my phone to send in their individual part that they filmed. So far all we have is my crime scene and our group interrogation. I’m currently trying to cut my scene because it’s a minute long and it needs to only be 12 -16seconds. When I add the music in the background i’ll know whether to cut the clip or just speed it up. I had my brother feel my scene on Snapchat so as of right now everything is very choppy. I’m reviewing how to make everything flow and go smoothly. Since I already filmed I  have to remind the girls that their scene has to be just as dark as mine says on my lighting is very dark to symbolize a middle of the night house invasion. I’m currently trying to fix the lighting just brighten it up a bit and make it more clear what is happening in the scene. So far I found that the music and lighting options on CapCut are limited so I how to make do with what I have. The editing process isn’t hard and who the easy then all my other experience although it’s more work. at the pace that I’m working I can’t expect to finish editing the pieces that I have by tonight.

FILMING WITH FRIENDS

Today we’ve chosen to go to Hagen park to film our interrogation scene. Since we all had to be here to film this part we had to find a day where we were all available. Hagan park has an area both inside and outside where we can meet in human interrogation like scene. The lighting the quiet news with minimal commotion really helpsets the tone. I was debating on whether I should come inside or outside but with the way hours he was going we settled on inside. We had to get somebody else to fill in for the third girl due to her not being able to make it nor film. I had keanna film the interrogation scene a couple times in order to make things work. Each time somebody would either be laughing not paying attention or just forgetting their lines. Decided to give ourselves times to go over our lines so that we could get it correct. I did make the executive decision to not film our booking scene since we didn’t have the beginning things with us. It was in my bag since I forgot to bring them that day since I was in a rush. I did review the scenes afterwards just to make sure that everything made sense and worked perfectly. Do you need go by fast for me since I already memorized my parts and planned how everything would go. And since I just got home I just decided to add everything to Capcut so I can edit tomorrow. Filming was definitely a success for me and the others today!

CHANGE OF PLANS!!

Hey blog as said before I was unable to film for quite a while because I was sick. well once I came back my partner and I worked on a new set of plans. Were still going to incorporate the filming from different places in certain scenes but just differently. Firstly I had to show what I had filmed so far and what needed to be changed. since originally the 3 of us were supposed to walk in together the same idea is still pending. I had to go over my angles  from where I chose record from, and think whether I should change it or not. I am choosing to refilm it, and that isn't really a big deal for me since its a quick 6-12 second clip. I had to adjust my schedule to where I could meet with everyone and make everything work when it comes to the filming. One of our actresses are unable to meet with us so we'll have to replace her. I do know people capable and available for the position so that delay is being dealt with. Along with that I am choosing to make our booking boards from scratch and not order sine were on a time limit. I could have gotten it for spring break but since I was out of country nobody would be home to receive it. Execution wise, I can make it work the delays weren't as drastic so making up filming isn't a big issue. I brought forth the idea of editing along the way of filming, so whenever there's a scene filmed we can automatically start editing. this will well appease to our time limit and get things done faster. I already got somewhat of a head start while I was home sick and I'm encouraging the others to do so as well. I'll also make our supporting actress send me her scene so I can edit that as well and tweak anything that need to be updated. At the moment there are a couple changes but no

thing to extreme that we aren't in the process of being handled :)

Filming delay

Hey blog, recently I was supposed to start filming along with my partner but their were some complications along the way. I haven’t been feeling well so I haven’t been able to film the parts I’m apart of. While I was sick I did have time to go over how I want everything to flow. Me and my partner have had discussions regarding filming locations and we chose to change it a bit. Due to me being sick and having a delay, I’ve chosen to utilize one of our back up plans of filming from home. There are certain parts of the scenes that can be easily shot from home, and I did just that.  But I only did that once I started feeling better because I wanted to have enough energy as possible. Once I started filming I had to redo my scene a couple times. I had to film from an angle where once it was mixed with the other scenes from the girls it wouldn't look choppy. my scene was the first bedroom so I did have much of a leverage. and since I was home sick I didn't have access to sum of the props we were going to buy. Example being the ski mask so I had to use one of my brothers which wasn't girly like the ones we were buying originally. Once I return to school to go over what I filmed with the others to make sure everything is good. I am expecting refilm but nothing that can't be easily done. Also I'm also going to have to re plan out filming locations for when we have to group film , which wont be much.  Until then I 'll just possibly catch on editing what I aready filmed and

getting the rest of our props

Music decision

Hey blog I was wondering what type of background music I wanted to add to our video. After weighing out my options, I ended up choosing just royalty free music. Initially the plan was to have some form of rap music in the beginning and them to transition into background sounds and royalty free music at the end. These days a lot of movies are starting to incorporate rap music in their movies. Some great examples of new to the scene movies containing rap music would be  the hate you give, how high, black panther etc. Adding it would have type and interesting and being that are burglars and might are females we could have used female rap artists. Ranging from either well-known female rappers from the past like Queen latifah or new upcoming rappers like lakeya. But after putting it into perspective, the time it will take to find a specific song and alternatives just in case would take time. Not only that but then trying to get in touch with the readers music artist's team would take too much time that we don't have. Royalty free music is easily accessible for both me and my partner and does it have any major difference from the other. Settling for more of a suspenseful mood type of music will do us more justice. Keeping it similar to many well-known and old crime movies. So far as for our Rosie free music I've fan for options that I feel would work perfectly with each other. I could have two choices playing the beginning to add the suspense and worry and use the other two throughout. I did some research on some possibly good royalty free music and I found 'before nightfall' , 'covert affairs' , 'when you're in the dark' , and also 'the unveiling'. Knowing without filming is going to go and how the scenes are set up these four work good and grabbing the audiences attention. Even though we wasn't planning on using music for the interrogation using one of these options would really bring out the crime sense in our clips. As of Right now these are our music choices, and I'm content with the possibilities that I've chosen. It

Genre research: The Hate U Give

Some aspects of the film that I liked were how it followed us through the process of the (actual/real) victims. It’s storyline and whole objectives were clear and building climax as it went on. Mainly focusing on Justice and what’s right.

The dialogue within its self had a lot of strong language both in and out school ground. Many times the characters spoke with determining dialogue in the high end and lower class communities .

•music playing in background that can be heard

Props included were guns, illegals substances such as alcohol, cigarettes, marijuana  etc. props were mostly evident in the settings of the low end neighborhoods and parties.

Cops, drug dealers and youth activists were more prominent as characters in the film.

They contain a lot of white shots for example when one of the important characters was shot and when they were surrounded by police in a cop car. Giving the audience a wide view of what was going on.

How do you see the low angle when star (the main character) was crying basically to add an intense emotion to the scenes.

We even seen a couple high angles of the carbs giving us a sense that they were asserting dominance onto us the audience and the character at hand.she himself look important and intimidating.

•cutaways during shooting incident

•cutaways during interview with cops

There was dark Clothing for “bangers” and more preppy clothing for the opposition.

•streets, the rough neighborhoods where majority of police and regular crimes within the movie are staking place

•lots of rap music playing- typically some displaying AA culture (migos, Tupac)

Genre conventions : Drama

  • Common Camera Angles in Drama Films?
-A close up is used to emphasize the expression on a persons face or to make it clear that the object is important.
-A long shot is used to show the person/object in a scene with the surroundings
-A birds eye or high angle shot is shot from above or at a higher angle than the object/character. These are typically used to gain perspective or to imply that the character/object is of lesser meaning than something else.
-Medium shots can have the setting in the background but the main focus will be on the character in shot, so the background tends to be blurred out to bring all the audiences attentions to the main character and their emotions in the

  •Common Mis-en-Scene in Drama Films?

-Costumes in a drama are supposed to represent the character and their personality. An antagonist may wear dark clothing to portray dark intentions.
-High Key Lighting Everything looks bright with little to no shadow at all. High-key lighting has little dramatic effect, and it is often used in a scene with no tension or to attach positive and uplifting connotations to a character or situation.

  • What elements Crime that you like, and you would use?

  • What elements Crime do not appeal you, and you would stay away from?

The genre chosen is ….Dun Dun Dun- CRIME

Out of all genres we researched crime genre was the most interesting to us. There were components where we knew it  would be easier for us to access . We found that it would be so much easier to do something we have lotta of knowledge on since we do watch a lot of crime shows and movies. We have experience using some of the angles and acting in situations similar to those in crime films. And when it comes to props it wouldn’t be an issue when considering what would be both allowed and available.the genres were good indeed, but it was the miscellaneous things such as props and acting that made Choosing crime as the genre, very easy.

Genre conventions: action-adventure

  • Common Camera Angles in action Action Films?  Usually there’s an establishing shot to basically set the tone and setting of where the adventure is going to take place — lots of close ups shots, to dramatize and put emphasis on what is going in the film. Mainly grabbing  the audiences attention and adding more attention to what’s happening — there’s always some point of view shots, in moments where something exciting or in action is happening, giving the audience the feel that they’re actually their experiencing it since it’s a view from what the character is seeing. —

Our pitch

"A Group of girls make a bad decision which lands them in a interrogation room"

It would be interested in making this film because we both love crime movies/shows. So we know a lot about what goes on in these films. Also, it  wouldn't really be a problem to access a group of girl to be in the film. What could be a problem though is finding somewhere to replicate an interrogation room. But other than that I think this would be a good idea.

“  When a friend  is accused of causing series of disturbances in her city , 2 girls come together to find the culprit.”

Making this film would be great idea since it falls under several categories that many of our favorite shows do. Being able to work with friends and act as detectives would be fun to accomplish and gives room for many possible genres to be done. The only challenge would really be planning locations and possible costumes that make sense.

Back and Better!!

Hey everyone I’m Loudui, and I’m 16year old AICE student at Fort Lauderdale high school. I have a somewhat balanced schedule of Flag, school and of course my favorite, SLEEP. Flag has been my main hobby and after school activity this school year. But Recently I’ve been finding myself adding new things to my schedule, mainly media related. Being that I already like watching movies, I’ve started noticing some of the things I’ve learned this year in these movies. It’s come to the point where I watch a movie and can automatically call out which angle is being used or which type of sound was playing . And I’m shockingly enjoy this as it is typically a new part of my free time activities. All this Has cause me to become really excited to finally work on my final task. The main thing I’m looking forward to  is probably seeing how it’ll turn out after my practice on the last to assignments. This year was my first year doing anything close to ‘filming’ alongside its learning key vocabulary on it. This is my 2nd year in my schools Cambridge program and my first year in AICE-media. I’ve excelled tremendously over the time span of being in this class and can’t wait to utilize what I’ve learned in my final task. There’s so many things I’ve learned this year regarding camera angles and shots, editing etc. being that this final task is supposed to be an introduction to a movie (2mins) I’m kind of curious on how it’s going to go. I’ve learned, used, and written about these terms so far so prolonging my use of them for this task is going to be a challenge I’m ready for. I look forward to possibly leaning new things when doing this task. The thought of learning new phrases, terms and constructing it all together for a movie intro, has me way over ecstatic and I’m here for it.
